How to Pursue Your Purpose with Urgency – Part 1

Did God place a HUGE VISION on your heart for your life and now He is calling you to wash windows.  You might be disappointed by the task of window washing and you have concluded your situation by saying “If God only gives me windows to wash every day, then I will be content with my job of washing windows because I don’t deserve anything from God and I am grateful for what he has given me.” (Exchange window washing for your specific situation)

Today I wanted to challenge you with this conclusion.  I ask that you hear me out until the end because I believe there is something greater God wants to reveal to you about your current situation.

A grateful heart is the correct posture of our hearts, it is necessary for us to walk in the purpose He calls us to. However, God does not call us to suffer just for the sake of suffering, there is always a purpose behind why He asks us to do something we don’t feel fulfilled when doing. He cares about every detail of our lives.

One thing we can agree on as UNIQUE beauties is that God designed our passion for us and our purpose for others.  The inner beauty He placed within you will allow for your passion to ignite your purpose.

God designed us this way from unconditional love.  He designed us to feel completely whole and fulfilled when we are serving the people He called us to serve while doing what we love.

Because God is a God of consistency, He wouldn’t give us tasks to do in our lives if it didn’t align up with His greater purpose for our lives.

So back to the thought “If God only gives me windows to wash every day, then I will be content with my job of washing windows because I don’t deserve anything from God and I am grateful for what he has given me.”  I don’t disagree with being grateful for the task He is giving you today of washing the windows, but where I would challenge you to go deeper is with the latter part of that phrase, “ then I will be content with my job of washing windows because I don’t deserve anything from God and I am grateful for what he has given me.” Although it is very true God does not owe us anything, AND He is a God of unconditional love who came down from heaven to have a relationship with you and me.  He wants a deeper connection with you if you let him in. In a relationship, it’s a two-way street, not a one-way street. He wouldn’t have placed a Vision in your heart that He will not bring to pass. So we need to be careful that we don’t position our hearts to shut out the Vision He placed within us. Don’t sacrifice the entire vision based on a season in life.  Unconditional love knows exactly what you need to live out the purpose He designed for your life to bring you fulfillment and complete joy.

He is not a mean God who is going to give you something you won’t enjoy doing for the rest of your life.  He is giving you a task today to help sift out things in your heart that are not a reflection of him.  God is a God of unconditional love and He is a servant leader.  He is teaching you to be like Him. When it comes to our purpose, He will call us to do things that don’t necessarily fill us up or come naturally to us.  Trust Him. He knows what He is doing.  He is giving you a greater gift right now that doesn’t appear to be the case when we look at it from a worldly perspective. It reminds me of the movie Karate Kid when Mr. Miyagi was giving his student Daniel chores to do when Daniel came to him to be coached to learn karate. After several months of passing, in Daniel’s frustration of doing chores, he gives up and blows-up on his coach.  Then his coach tells him “Wax on, Wax Off” and demonstrates a karate move with Daniel when doing so.  The chores were preparing him for karate moves and were also teaching him discipline. My Miyagi knew Daniel needed both of these things to become GREAT at karate.

Remember walking in your Purpose is a journey and it’s not so much about doing as it is about being.  In this season He is calling you to wash windows, so stay present in the season with Him and understand its necessary for you to do it in this time and season for He is teaching you something and sifting out things in your heart that are not of Him. You have to stay in a relationship with Him constantly, hearing from Him every moment and learning what it is He is teaching you.  Know that if washing windows does not give you fulfillment and complete joy, it’s not your purpose.  God would not want for you to do something all your life that you do not feel fulfillment and joy when doing, but He will place something on your heart for the season, to teach you how to become a reflection of Him which is necessary for your purpose to come to pass.

UNIQUE beauty your purpose brings beauty into the world and you can’t bring beauty into the world until you are walking in the true essence of who he created you to be. Trust Him when He tells you to do something that seems so unconventional.  There is a reason He is asking you to do it and make sure to not get emotionally charged by what it is he is telling you to do. DO NOT sacrifice the greater  VISION for a temporary season. Know and understand that there is a greater perspective than the one you are seeing today. Expect God to show up bigger than the window washing He is asking you to do today.   The BIG vision He placed in your heart, will bring you a great amount of joy and fulfillment  AND it is so much bigger than you and I. When you sacrifice your VISION based on a season you are letting down those in whom the VISION will bring justice into their world.  You are blocking God’s beauty that He placed within you to bring out into a world that desperately needs it.  His VISION for our lives is so much greater than us, when we don’t walk towards it our relationship with Christ suffers, the world suffers and we suffer too.
