“Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much, and whoever is unrighteous in very little is also unrighteous in much” Luke 16:10
You are probably familiar with this scripture, knowing that it is referencing the worldly resource of money. I wanted to share something God showed me about this verse as it relates to the worldly resource of time on earth. As we know time is eternal, our spirits will live forever AND our time on earth is limited. It will end.
Of all the resources we have on this earth, I believe time is a resource that we UNIQUE beauties struggle within our relationship with God.
I know, personally, this is a resource I have grown much in but still have a ways to go. I have learned that Luke 16:10 applies to time as well. Here is what my handsome groom showed me about time.
I used to think that I was in a “waiting season”. Just sitting here, waiting on God. Anytime now God, just waiting on you. We all can agree that God’s timeline for our life is preordained and His perfect timing is the schedule we all want and need to sync ALL our calendars up to.
Here is where Luke 16:10 changed my relationship with time as an insight from my beloved groom. In retrospect when I look back at the “waiting seasons” of my life, I quickly saw a common denominator in all of these situations. It wasn’t God that time was waiting on, time was waiting on ME. When I look back at all the painful seasons of my life of just waiting, I recognized that perceiving that season as “waiting” was a skewed perspective. Jesus shifted my face in another direction and I saw my seasons in a new light. The seasons were “lesson seasons”. God knows my heart better than me and He knows just the right amount of time and space I need to come to the realization of the truth He is teaching me in a season. He showed me that how I handle the time in any “lesson season” determines my ability to be stripped of a lie that is holding back my UNIQUE beauty. If I am faithful with the time He is giving me, to let go of what I think I should do and LEAN more into him, the more He is able to multiply time for me. And if I fight God by being in complete disobedience to His will for this lesson season of my life, I end up getting stuck with the same vicious cycle happening over and over again. “…whoever is unrighteous in very little is also unrighteous in much.” Unrighteousness might look like trying to control our situation by not even going to God to get His insight on the lessons season. Sometimes we are so in control of our lives we miss the entire lesson He is trying to show us. Or we know exactly what God is asking us to do, but we don’t understand why He is commanding us to do so, so we ignore His command. Sometimes there is something of the world that is more important to us, a relationship, stability, comfort that we are not willing to give it up. Sometimes it makes no sense at all, so we doubt and convince ourselves that we heard Him wrong. All of these scenarios are examples of unrighteousness. I have found that when I am unrighteous in a “lesson season”, time can go on and on and on of feeling stuck. I feel further and further away from God. The lesson season turns into a waiting season because it feels like torment and it will never end.
If you feel stuck and that you are drifting further and further away from God, this is a good indication that you are missing the command He is asking you to do in this season. I don’t believe God places us in a season to just wait. I believe he places us in a season to actively LEAN into Him to understand why He has us in this very season for this very time. If you are faithful and LEAN into him 100%, He can multiply time for you. God cares about your heart and He knows the shifts in your life that can result from a heart correction. The vision He placed in your heart cannot come to pass by executing a strategy of plans alone. His VISION comes to pass in your life when you let him work in your heart, chipping away the things that are holding you back. He is your biggest cheerleader and when you LEAN into Him 100%, you open the doors to allow His Vision for your life to come to pass.
I can really see the truth in this post. Thank you Jamie for so beautifully clarifying this concept of waiting on God.
Lisa, you are so welcome, here is to leaning into Him this season!
Just what I needed to hear in the long wait time. Thank you.
You are so welcome. Keep leaning into Him, like I know you will. Keep me posted on what He shows you!
